Florida opens up racing to Paint Horses at Hialeah Park

Hialeah Park

On December 8, 2009, APHA announced that Hialeah Park was going to allow the Paints to race with the Quarters in their overnight races. Several owners wanted to send horses, but many had already turned their runners out for the winter break.

Some did send horses, taking advantage of nice purses ranging from $5,000-$11,000. Seven races included Paint Horses, with one winning a race. Ozzy You Can Do It won a race on January 5 and also ran on January 18 for trainer Donnie Strickland. Kids Moon Pie had an out on January 4, and Dos Para Uno ran on January 3. Zee Can Do It ran twice, running fourth on January 18 and third on January 24. Hidden Miracle ran on January 19.

Thank you to trainers Donnie Strickland, H. Horozco, Brian Muse and Henry Smith for running our Paints down in sunny Florida! Also, thanks to jockeys Dennis Means and Thomas Byrd for riding at Hialeah. We appreciate all of their efforts made to represent the Paints and hope that we will have more opportunities this year.
